Threshold IMT and PEP

Overcome the Pressure for Consistent PEP and IMT Therapy

Superior Performance, Great Value
Common Features
• Flow-independent one-way valve
• Constant pressure (regardless of patient’s airflow) eliminates the need for a pressure indicator
• Easy to set, truly adjustable pressure (PEP in 1 cm H2O; and IMT in 2 cm H2O increments)
• Effective therapy when held in any position
• Can be used with mouthpiece or mask
• Easy to clean
• Made of durable, high-impact acrylic

Different Indications
Threshold PEP
• Improves mobilization and prevents accumulation of secretions
• Promotes effective breathing patterns and improves gas exchange
• Improves central and peripheral airway function
• Prevents or reverses atelectasis
• Optimizes bronchodilation when combined with respiratory drug delivery via nebulizer or MDI spacer devices

Threshold IMT
• Increases respiratory muscle strength
• Increases respiratory muscle endurance
• Increases exercise tolerance

One-Way Valve Ensures Consistent Resistance
Threshold devices incorporate flow-independent one-way valves to ensure consistent resistance and feature adjustable specific pressure settings (in cmH2O) to be set by healthcare professionals. When patients exhale through Threshold® PEP, the resistive load creates positive pressure that helps open the airways and allows mucus to be expelled during ‘huff’ coughing (forced expiratory technique). Threshold PEP can be used for airway clearance, bronchial hygiene, or as an alternative to chest physical therapy. When patients inhale through Threshold® IMT, a spring-loaded valve provides a resistance that exercises respiratory muscles through conditioning.
